My Story
It all started with a simple Christmas gift - a sourdough starter we made for our daughter. That first one didn't survive, but I kept trying. Somewhere between the flour, water, and patience, I discovered something I truly loved: baking.
Not long before that, life took an unexpected and difficult turn. I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, which left most of my face paralyzed and took away my ability to speak. In that silence, I found a new way to express myself - through bread.
Baking became my language of love. Each loaf I make is a way to show my family and friends how much they mean to me. Seeing their joy inspired me to share that same warmth with others.
That's how this little cottage bakery was born - out of resilience, love, and the simple comfort of good bread shared with people who care.
Now the name...
After everything I've been through, I can honestly say - I feel lucky. Lucky to be alive. Lucky to have my family. Lucky to be able to work and do something I love.
Over the past few summers, we've also discovered the simple joy of raising ducks. It started small, but our little flock has become a big part of our lives. Watching them waddle around the yard brings me peace and laughter - things I don't take for granted anymore.
So, when my family came up with the name for this cottage bakery, it couldn't have been more fitting: Lucky Duck Bread.
Because that's what I am - one lucky duck, grateful for every loaf, every sunrise, and every chance to share a bit of warmth with others through something as humble and comforting as bread
